USA Racism in 21st Century: T-Shirt - Keep the White House WHITE
This picture was shared with me through email. I could not believe it and had to share it with you. I don't understand why people hate like this. I really have tried to be calm, patient and nurturing but this is definitely unacceptable. That is someone who I would never want to interact with because under their breath they see me as inferior : /

Well, he's not wearing a helmet. This means he probably won't be in the gene pool for too long.
[this is good]
OMG...wait, but is he Black? Can't figure out from the arms, hair...my good lord!!

Can you imagine waking up and deciding to wear that, knowing a whole bunch of people, including children will be influenced by your choice??!! Sadly, it's probably what he's hoping for.

Either some serious, unbridled racism or some serious self-hating going on.
[this is good]
ooh that is a good one. Well, some people are just ignorant and he falls right in that category!

It makes me want to throw up. I wonder if this guy will be alive at the end of a day of wearing this. I can't imagine someone not trying to run him off the road...and he knows he is asking for it. Weird.
I'm not to sure. It was sent to me via email by someone in my school list serve. But regardless of their nationality that is really unfortunate that they have to be that degrading. I am concerned for all of us. Please be careful.
I agree. I don't understand why he would wear his hate like that for his own safety. It's unfortunate. Instead of wearing a t-shirt like that he could just continue to wear McCain/Palin gear but I never would think they (McCain/Palin) would be that blatant in saying something like this! I hope not! : /

If he just wants the white house to be white then he should just vote for McCain/Palin instead of making the racial slurs. Shows you how some people don't think these things out. Praying for him! God tells you to pray for your enemies. I don't hate him. I worry about incidents like this!

wow - when I see things like that it makes me laugh - he looks ridiculous. people can say what they want and wear what they want - i know who and what i am. he does not bother me at all. he is the one with the problem and is therefore "bothered" - i am not concerned for my safety - I have faith and God does what is in the best interest of all His children - this poor FOOL included!

Thanks 4 sharing sis - hugz ; )

Did you see this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1070975/Man-shot-times-street-racist-gunman--wearing-Barack-Obama-T-shirt.html

I understand how you feel. I do too. I am not concerned for my safety and if someone wants to shoot me dead for wearing a t-shirt in support of Barack so be it! It's been a good life! 8)
ROTFL @ u sis! ; D - keep the faith honey! God loves us!
[this is good]

Oh wow - i did not see this - it just proves that people r sho nuff crazy as hell! I'ma go home and put on my Obama T - it looks 2 cute on me! This was an unfortunate situation - but again the mind of men and what lenghts they are willing to go doesn't surprise me. what are we going to do? what kind of action should we take if any?

I was robbed @ gun point by a young Black man - he stole my favorite Coach bag and all of my good stuff in it! It makes me a little more aware, but it has not stopped me. The reactions I got from people were mixed - from, why didn't u run? to, that would never happen to me! I thank God for my life and my mind! The gun man did not take away my spirit and neither did those ignorant people who seemed to have blamed me. God is so good and he knows what is best! He speaks to me and he moves me! I am not worried!

[this is good]
[[omg]] thank GOD you are okay. God is good to protect you! I cannot believe some black kid or just anyone would do that!

But you know what? My college roommate was robbed at gun point too but I am not to sure of the person's nationality. I know from hearing her experience I am more cautious but then I say if God wants me to die then it is my time. I stopped using designer hand bags as a teenager after knowing of people getting robbed of their goods but I see it does not matter what you may have on that we are all open to being robbed at any time for any reason!

My college friend though was car jacked and killed for his car when we were in college by a black kid. That is when I knew back then that unfortunately WE can be our worst enemies.

Prayer keeps me sane! I am so glad I have you, Beauty, as my pal. You are definitely my hero! [hugz]
[c’est top]
And u r mine Jenn! I am glad 2 have u as my pal as well ; D
It's just words that's all, its what you draw from it that's offensive. After all, Obama has been making the case that its HOPE that will bring about the change. So yeah, i can see some skeptics like this guy making that argument. Remember the One drop rule for segregation ? the one that said that for the purpose of legal segregation, anyone with as much as 1 drop of African blood was to be considered FULLY black ? Imagine how powerful and dominant the African Gene was mistakenly made to be by this argument. There are a lot of black people TODAY who are proud that the African gene "tends" to be the dominant one in biracial children. A direct result of the misguided One drop argument, still scientifically inaccurate but amazingly having the opposite effect from what was intended.
I totally understand where you are coming from that is it is *just words* but they are hateful words that are meant to bring attention of the hate that persists throughout the world. There are words that are written on a t-shirt for all to see but we know these types of individuals who would never say these words so blatantly so they use their actions like wearing this t-shirt to show it. I wonder if he would actually say them on video. Possibly? I don't know but he is letting you know what he is thinking.

With how I read the t-shirt, "Nigger PLEASE..it's a WHITE HOUSE." I know exactly what that means. "Black person [meaning Nigger who is looking at the presiding over the white house.] no way are you going to be in the white house."

[I know I am not a nigger so I know this was not directed at me but the intent here is obviously Barack Obama since he is the only black person in the election who is running to be President of the USA]

It is at times like this when the words become more intensified because of the hope of having a black president (oops bi-racial President but you know he identifies as black which is the instant case here). But then who is considered fully black? Black Africans are mixed with something in their blood too that does not make them 100% black. Look at all the colonizers who went into the continent and raped the plundered so much! This is a constant argument I have made on my blog.

My own grandfather was biracial and he definitely identified with his African ancestry although he had straight hair, very fair and had a British accent! The DMV in Florida did not understand why he wanted to have his driver's license read COLORED when they said he should identify with being white since that is what they visibly saw!

I see this situation in a variety of layers and I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you for sharing.

For those unaware here is a definition of the one drop rule..

Great Definition of One Drop Rule Defined here

oops sorry I also know that Cynthia McKinney is running for President on the Green Party ticket too so then this is directed at any black person running in for President:

We agree on the main issue here which is the perceived intent for which that the words are used for. You wrote, "They are hateful words that are meant to..."

It is important to keep in mind that even though we all probably know what his intentions were, the words on their own do not hold the bigoted message till we attach our own perceptions of the message. Since we have the power to control our perceptions, why should we get upset over what someone intended when we can easily perceive the same words to mean something else? Won't we be giving these bigots too much power on our ourselves by getting offended when we can choose to see the words in a different way?

Let me illustrate my point, this guy has the statement "Nigger please.. It’s the white house" on his T-Shirt. We do not know who this guy is, or even whether he is a racist for a fact. Hell, we don't even know whether he is truly white. This statement on itself is not enough to accurately label him as one without any doubt whatsoever. This guy above needs to do a better job in convincing myself that he really is a racist. Now take the same statement and apply it hypothetically to a 1.) An African American riding a bike with a similar T-Shirt, 2. ) A group of African American friends in a heated discussion about the possibilities of a black person becoming a president in the USA. It is very likely that these same words will be used in the same manner, word by word. Word by word, because of how the words are written in a non- traditional African American way of speaking thus taking the form of an ethnic African American colloquial.

However, the meaning derived in both of these scenarios would be quite different because of our perception of the intended meaning, even though the words would remain exactly the same.

This is why I feel that we as a people should ignore bigots who make such remarks because by considering their intentions, we attach a negative meaning to their words and then allow ourselves to get offended. The only exception here is when the words or actions are inflammatory, inciteful or bound to cause physical or substantial emotional harm to another person.

These bigots shouldn't really have the power to control our minds unless we allow them to.

Nelson Mandela upon his release from prison was asked if he could ever forgive his oppressors for wrongfully imprisoning him for 27 years. He responded by stating. "They have taken 27 years of my life, I will not give them a single more day by holding a grudge".

[this is good]
This is beyond belief.
its funny when the raper says paint the white house black no one says a word. this guy wears a tee shirt and people are ready to run him off the road.
that makes me want to throw up. get a life people. he has the right to express himself however he wants.
[זה מעולה]
If I had been driving behaind this guy I am 99.9% sure my car would have had total brake failure. My only regret would be washing the blood off of my car's grill and then I would have to pay to fix the damage to the Saturn in front of him

To me, ignoring the intent of the saying, is no different that having a gradualism point of view; eventually, they will stop with the crap. Let a black man wear a t-shirt saying whitey please, Bush is a jackass and watch how many times he is questioned on his patriotism. Whilst I appreciate free speech it doesnt make

j'adooooooooooooooooooooore..!
